Privacy with Technology


Who touch my computer? In the computer, there are more or less our own personal information stored, which is our privacy. Even though, some of them may be not so important, we still do not want them to expose to the others. What is privacy? Privacy may be defined as the claim of individuals, groups or institutions to determine when, how and to what extent information about them is communicated to others. Privacy is your right to control what happens with personal information about you.(1) It is including: privacy of person such as “blood sample”; privacy of personal behavior such as “sex”; privacy of personal data such as “photo”. Why does the privacy matter? It is obvious that people want it and it is not only good for business but also it is a legal requirement.
Some of people are lack of personal privacy protection. How long will you change your password for the computer? When you post your information on the internet, do you protect your personal information? Did your password is your birthday? When you chat with stranger online, do you leak your personal privacy? There are so many points that we need to care about to protect our privacy. In the mobile companies, they have our personal call history. In the banks, they have our financial information. If there are any loopholes, others could easily get our information. Protect our privacy is not the job of organization but also ourselves.
Science and technology are primary productive forces. Looking at past and present, almost every advanced step of human society is in base on the technology. The technologies provide more freedom for human to develop the economy. In the facing of changing technology, it provides to strengthen our privacy but, in some degrees, it also violates our privacy.
